Machine tool controls are increasingly powerful, often using a Windows PC as the underlying technology. With this increased capability, Machine tool vendors are looking to offer advanced technologies such as machine simulation and verification on the machine tool control.
Integrated Machine Simulation has the potential to detect and stop expensive collisions before they happen by checking each NC block prior to execution on the machine. Although a relatively new concept, the safety and productivity benefits are high.
A further benefit of ModuleWorks machine simulation is the integrated Toolpath analysis which can highlight areas where toolpaths can be optimised or improved. Examples include the detection of unwanted axis reversals and excessive tool load.
Toolpath generation also has potential applications on the machine tool control. ModuleWorks powerful 3-5 Axis toolpath modules may be integrated with conversational programming methods to offer programming of complex components on the shopfloor.
