ModuleWorks provide a complete solution for multi-axis machining in the automotive industry.

Engine components such as camshafts and crankshaft require 4-Axis (or in some cases 5-Axis) rotary machining techniques while the machining of cylinder head ports requires full 5-Axis simultaneous spiral machining techniques (see camshaft worked example).

Mold Tools for large automotive body components increasingly utilise simultaneous 5-Axis machining methods. As an example, by tilting the tool appropriately, deep cavities can be machined with shorter series cutters leading to better surface finish (see Mold and Die).

Many interior components are vacuum-formed or fibre-reinforced plastic parts which have to be trimmed and finished using 5-Axis simultaneous machining methods. ModuleWorks provides powerful but easy to use 5-Axis trimming and de-flashing for these components.
