Funding Number: EFRE-20500043

Details

The “DZ.NRW” research project is funded by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the EFRE/JTF Programme NRW 2021–2027 under the funding no.: EFRE-20500043.

Digitalization is a key driver of innovation across numerous sectors of the economy and society. In fields such as manufacturing, construction, and medical technology, digital twins are playing an increasingly significant role. A digital twin is a virtual replica of a real-world object, such as a building, vehicle, workpiece, or even a person, that mirrors its essential characteristics based on real-time data. This enables comprehensive insights into functionality and condition, while also supporting predictive maintenance and process optimization. Beyond technical applications, digital twins can be leveraged to evaluate and improve environmental performance, for instance by monitoring resource consumption or reducing the CO₂ footprint.

The project’s objective is to provide companies, researchers, and educators with easy and interactive access to digital twin technologies. This will be achieved through the development of advanced CAx workstations with seamless data transfer to CNC machines, training facilities equipped with real CNC controls, data acquisition tools, and cloud-based systems for process simulation and monitoring.

ModuleWorks contributes to the project by focusing on the digital infrastructure and ensuring the seamless integration of systems.
