ModuleWorks 2026.04 Software Release Now Available

April 9, 2026

ModuleWorks has released version 2026.04 of its software components for digital manufacturing, introducing GPU-accelerated machine simulation and extending its VoluMill and SmartRoughing technologies to multi-axis and turning applications.

VoluMill for Area Roughing & Rotary Machining

ModuleWorks 2026.04 brings VoluMill’s high-efficiency pattern to multi-axis roughing and turning, maintaining stable cutting conditions and consistent tool loads, even in corners, closed pockets and complex transitions.

By dynamically controlling chip load and tool engagement, and applying trochoidal motion where needed, VoluMill enables consistently high feed rates and eliminates load spikes through features like ACTC (Adaptive Chip Thickness Control).

For CAD/CAM OEMs, the integration with the ModuleWorks 5-Axis Core simplifies implementation in existing CAM systems, enabling efficient adoption of advanced multi-axis roughing and turning strategies.

Automatic 3+2 SmartRoughing

ModuleWorks has integrated SmartRoughing technology into its 3+2 axis roughing. Using tooling data from Kennametal combined with machining physics, the system automatically optimizes cutting depths across multiple machining directions.

This enables efficient material removal in a single operation while automatically adjusting stepovers, feeds and speeds. For CAM programmers it reduces manual parameter tuning, helping them achieve consistently high material removal rates and shorter cycle times. Height limits are also applied to eliminate unnecessary toolpath artifacts and minimize rework.

GPU Support Extended to Machine Simulation

ModuleWorks has expanded GPU support to machine simulation, complementing its existing GPU-accelerated cutting simulation. This significantly speeds up stock updates and collision detection for both parametric and mesh-based tools, especially in complex machining scenarios.

The system automatically falls back to CPU processing when needed, ensuring stable and predictable operation across different use cases.
